The Seven World Heritage sites in Croatia

UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) has named seven sites in Croatia as part of the World Heritage. Places named by UNESCO are those that they feel hold special cultural and or physical significance.


• Plitvice Lakes – is a national park located in the region of Lika which is mainly a mountain area.
• The cathedral of St. James is located in Šibenik which in itself is an historic town.
• The old city in Dubrovnik
• The Historic city of Trogir
• The Palace of Diocletian
• Euphrasian Basilica is an Episcopalian complex in Poreč
• Stari grad plain is an area of landscape on the island of Hvar that has remained relatively untouched since its colonisation by the Greeks in the 4th Century BC.
In addition to the recognised sites Croatia also has eight national parks, which are generally located along the Adriatic coastline. All eight of these parks are located in the Krast region and include Paklenica, Mljet and Brijuni.
